You GO, girl! I was a little apprehensive about going without shoes myself. However, like you, I thought about the children and adults who don’t have the choice. It was so automatic for me trying to put shoes on before I headed out the door. It never occurred to me that many people don’t even have the protection and support that shoes bring. I also never realized there were so many tiny rocks on the sidewalk on my way to class!! It was pretty neat though because 2 students besides myself in my ethics class also went barefoot. My teacher was so inspired by us that she took her shoes off and taught barefoot and kept them off when class was over! There’s always room in our hearts to love and reach out to others. We’re all more connected than we even realize…
I love the video posts. It is a more hands-on approach to blogging. Your message is very powerful, as was your display on Thursday going without shoes. I loved the time and effort you put into the concept, plus your shirt was super cute.
I love the video posts too– and I just love THIS. I love how you were getting frustrated with your family and friends not understanding it– I mean, I didn’t LOVE it, but I think it illustrated the point of what you were trying to do. What you did made you stand out, and it made people ask questions and it made them think. My favorite part about something like this is that its something ANYONE can do. It’s raising awareness– it’s helping out shoeless people in other countries by raising awareness of the issue even if you can’t donate money. And if you can, all the better– it’s just cool to me that this is something that literally anyone can do, no matter how old you are. It’s powerful, and it’s making a point and changing the world. Kudos, Jami, kudos.
I am so proud of you for doing this! You really stick up for what you believe in and not many people can straight up say that they don’t care what other people think about them (if other people think you’re crazy for walking around campus with no shoes). You looked super cute that day and I kind of wish I would have done it with you!
